Competitive

The Competitive Level of play is for serious soccer players who aspire to play at the highest level of elite travel soccer. Competitive teams will compete at the state, regional and national level. This requires a commitment to training, games, tournaments and travel. The program is year round with extensive training. Competitive level teams are for those players looking to play soccer in high school, college and beyond. Competitive teams start at the U11 level.

Players are placed on teams based on ability. Players are selected through a tryout process and competition for roster and pool roster spots is high. Unlike recreational teams, there is no playing time guarantee for players on competitive teams.

There are two to three levels of Competitive teams that can be formed: Competitive 1, 2, or 3. Teams can be promoted or relegated up or down within the competitive levels based on their yearly or seasonal team results.

Competitive 1 (C1)

C1 teams are the most competitive teams. Players will train up to three times a week, and usually compete in Region 3, Regional Premier League and other highly competitive leagues. C1 teams may also participate in the Louisiana Competitive Soccer League (LCSL) and the Gulf States Premier League (GSPL). They will play in local, regional and college showcase tournaments to receive exposure at some of the top tournaments around the country. Competitive 1 teams will participate in the USYSA National Championship Series for State, Regional and National Championships. Teams may also qualify for US CLUB soccer regional and national championship tournaments determined by their results in the GSPL.

Competitive 2 (C2)

C2 teams are the next level of competitive team. Players will train at least twice a week and can train up to three times a week. C2 teams will participate in the LCSL and select teams can participate in the GSPL. They will play in local and some regional tournaments. C2 teams will be promoted to the C1 level depending on their results for the season or year. C2 teams will participate in the USYSA President's Cup for State, Regional and National Championships. Teams may also qualify for US CLUB soccer regional and national championship tournaments determined by their results in the GSPL.

Competitive 3 (C3)

C3 Teams will only be formed if there are sufficient numbers of teams and skill levels to warrant the formation of a C3 league. C3 teams will play for the C3 State Championship, however there is no USYS program for Regional or National Championship Tournaments at the C3 level. Top C3 finishing teams will be promoted to C2.
